Jill was elected to Broxtowe Borough Council in May 2003 as a Conservative Councillor for Nuthall West and Watnall, although she has been involved with local politics for over 20 years as a Nuthall Parish Councillor. Jill is the Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group at Broxtowe.
She is married to Philip, who is the Cabinet Member for Children and Young people on Nottinghamshire County Council and she have one son who is a doctor at the QE hospital in Birmingham.
Jill is a Nuthall Parish Councillor and also attends Greasley Parish Council meetings on a regular basis. She is a Governor at Mornington Primary School and Larkfield Junior School, as well as a member of the Travel to School Plan Group.
Jill's immediate concerns for the Nuthall area are crime and anti social behaviour issues and she is in regular contact with the Police on such matters. Jill is involved in the Nuthall Community Action Team (CAT), which regularly holds meetings with residents and officers of the Council and provides a forum to discuss issues of importance to local people in the area. Jill runs a Councillor's surgery on the first Saturday of each month in the room at The Temple Centre between 9.30am and 10.30 am at the Spinney Sheltered Housing Scheme between 10:30am and 12pm with Councillor Burnett and County Councillor Philip Owen. As there is no waiting area at the Spinney, it is advisable to ring and make an appointment on 0115 927 9027. No appointment is required for the Temple Centre Surgery.
